Sweet Summertime

Happy Friday, Eagle Nation!

Our apologies for our long hiatus, but we've just had so much exciting stuff going on the past few months! One of the biggest things taking up our time during the summer is presenting to the incoming freshman as they attend SOAR. This is an amazing opportunity for us to share all kinds of great information about spirit and traditions to new students and get them pumped to be part of this AMAZING university.
Here are a few of our new students waiting anxiously for our presentation as their peers continue to file in
And did we mention we've moved?! The Office of Student Activities (including Traditions Council) is no longer being housed in the Russell Union. You can now find us in the AMAZINGLY renovated Williams Center. This place is legit, y'all, so come check us out!

And so much of our time this summer has been spent planning for and anticipating one of the BEST summer programs for new students...Eagle Camp! It is a 4-day, 3-night social extended orientation camp for new students. Believe me when I say it is SO much fun! This is an experience that every incoming freshman needs to experience.

So that's what we've got going on right now in Traditions Council. We hope your summer has been full of fun and sunshine! Come see us in the Fall when you get back on campus!

BLUE! WHITE! EAGLES CAME TO FIGHT!

It may be Spring, but that doesn't mean you have to be denied your Georgia Southern football. This Friday, April 15, the Eagles are suiting up for the Blue and White spring game. This scrimmage is your chance to see the Eagles back in action as they play against each other in preparation for what is certain to be an amazing Fall season!

To get pumped up for the game, your Traditions Council is hosting the Blue-White Eagle Rally at Paulson Stadium right before the game. The rally will be held at 6:00 p.m. after the conclusion of the Little Eagles Skills Clinic. Coach Monken and the team will be in attendance with your NATIONAL CHAMPION GSU cheerleaders and the always lovable, GUS.  You will NOT want to miss this! As always, there will be free giveaways.

Let's show up in big numbers to support our players and part of the EAGLE NATION!

Spring Break if Over, but the Fun is Just Beginning!

Welcome back from Spring Break!
Although the break is over and we are all back to the grind of our weekly schedule, fear not Eagles, there are so many exciting events happening in the coming weeks. For instance, entry forms for the Mr. GSU Competition are due TODAY by 5 p.m. in the Office of Student Activities in the Russell Union! Who do you think will take the crown? Pencil in April 5th at 7 p.m. to find out the answer.

FUN FACT OF THE DAY!
Did you know that in 1981, Erk Russell purchased our traditional yellow school buses from the Bulloch County Board of Education for $1 each? He spent a total of $2 on two buses and used black spray paint to strike through the Bulloch County name on the sides of the buses. Although they were used at first because Georgia Southern's budget did not allow for nicer forms of transportation, the Eagles have continued to use these buses to arrive to the stadium on game days to remind our players and fans of our humble beginnings.
